Cracks
Inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing cracked pottery with gold.
When I was younger I avoided the cracks in pavements. I don’t know why, I think someone told me it was bad luck to stand on them.
What did I think would happen? Were they cracks to fall through. Cracks that were sharp and jagged. Dangerous and to be avoided.
Cracks to paper over.
What if the cracks are the places for that small shaft of light to peep through. Hope.
The place where something new starts to sprout and grow.
Maybe even a crack to help you break out, break free, break through.
