Leaning in
Reflections after a conversation with a friend.
Sometimes when I feel flat or I have a little wobble, I lean in.
I hunker down on the sofa, wrapped in my comfort blanket and do nothing.
Instead of pushing against it or dashing away from it, I lean in.
I settle in with tea and a chocolate biscuit because doing nothing feels like something.
Whether it is heavy, flattening and dull, or tight and sharp, prickling and poking, I lean in.
I choose sitting with it, under my blanket, no pressure. I give it a moment, or more, just to be.
Then, when I feel able, brush off the crumbs and fold up the blanket. Rise to my feet and put one in front of the other. I lean in.
